2016 ESIL Riga Annual Conference invites to submit papers and posters

The 12th Annual Conference of the European Society of International Law (ESIL) invites scholars from all over Europe to submit paper abstracts and poster proposals. The conference will address the topic of How International Law Works in Times of Crisis.

In addition to the plenary sessions and fora featuring invited speakers, the conference programme also includes a number of agorae. Agorae speakers will be selected on the basis of abstracts submitted in response to a call for papers. Scholars are invited to send applications on the following topics: New Forms of Warfare and Armed Conflict; European Human Rights Architecture: Progress and Setbacks; Minority Rights: Human Rights and Security Considerations; Is Current International Law on State Immunity in Crisis?; International Law and the Baltic States; Are Cyber Security and Privacy Reconcilable?; Implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development: What Role for International Law?; International Response to Challenges of Climate Change: The Law of Politics and the Politics of Law; Law of the Sea: As Ever, between Selden and Grotius; The Challenge of Illiberal Actors and Movements to the Liberal International Legal Order. The conference will also offer poster sessions for early career scholars following a call for posters. This session aims at making connections with people in the respective research field, to present new findings on the topic, and to obtain feedback on existing work. The deadline for the submission of paper abstracts and poster proposals is January 31, 2016.

The ESIL annual conference in Riga will be organised by the Riga Graduate School of Law in cooperation with the Constitutional Court.
